Modern vehicle development programs continue to increase the volume of measurement data, CAN FD traffic, and integration complexity required during calibration and validation workflows. The VISION Network Hub 2 (VNH2) was developed to provide the throughput, CAN FD support, and rugged reliability needed for these evolving applications.

Serving as the central communication gateway between ATI VISION software and ATI hardware platforms, the VNH2 enables synchronized communication with ATI EMX and EDAQ modules while also interfacing with generic CAN FD and Classic CAN networks.

Compared with the original VNH1, the VNH2 provides:

  • Higher communication throughput

  • Full CAN FD support

  • Improved support for larger acquisition systems

  • Enhanced power protection circuitry

  • Continued compatibility with existing VNH1 installations

The result is a modern CAN gateway platform that supports both current and future automotive development requirements without disrupting existing ATI workflows.

Why VNH2

Accelerate High-Channel-Count Data Acquisition

As vehicle systems continue to increase in complexity, engineers need higher bandwidth communication between software and instrumentation hardware. The VNH2 increases throughput compared with the original VNH1, helping teams support larger acquisition systems and faster measurement rates.

Simplify CAN FD Integration

With support for CAN FD and Classic CAN across all four channels, the VNH2 allows development teams to work with modern vehicle networks and legacy systems simultaneously.

Optimize ATI Hardware Workflows

The VNH2 is specifically designed to integrate with ATI EMX and EDAQ measurement hardware and ATI VISION software environments. Dedicated instrumentation CAN FD channels help streamline configuration and communication with ATI systems.

Upgrade Existing Systems with Minimal Changes

Mechanical and cabling compatibility with VNH1 helps reduce migration effort for existing installations. Existing mounting strategies and cabling infrastructure can remain in place while upgrading to improved CAN FD performance.

Improve Reliability in Harsh Environments

Automotive and industrial validation environments require hardware designed for electrical and environmental stress. The VNH2 includes galvanic isolation, integrated termination switches, and auto-resetting current limiting circuitry to improve operational reliability.

Four CAN FD Channels

The VNH2 provides four independent CAN channels supporting both CAN FD and Classic CAN communication.

Key Capabilities

  • CAN FD support up to 8 Mbps

  • Classic CAN compatibility

  • Simultaneous instrumentation and generic CAN communication

  • LED status indicators for rapid diagnostics

  • Integrated physical termination switches

These capabilities allow engineers to connect ATI measurement hardware, ECUs, and third-party CAN devices within a single synchronized ATI VISION environment while supporting the higher bandwidth requirements of modern vehicle networks.

Dedicated ATI Instrumentation Connectivity

Two CAN FD channels are specifically intended for ATI instrumentation hardware including EMX 2.0 modules, legacy ATI EMX systems, and ATI EDAQ modules.

Supported Hardware

  • ATI EMX 2.0 modules

  • Legacy ATI EMX systems

  • ATI EDAQ modules

Dedicated instrumentation communication helps improve integration consistency and supports demanding synchronized acquisition workflows across ATI measurement and calibration environments.

Generic CAN FD Connectivity

Two additional CAN FD / Classic CAN channels allow communication with third-party CAN devices and vehicle networks.

Key Capabilities

  • Third-party CAN device integration

  • Vehicle CAN and CAN FD network communication

  • Simultaneous instrumentation and vehicle network access

This allows teams to integrate measurement systems, ECUs, gateways, and vehicle CAN networks within a single synchronized development and validation environment.
