Designed for Automotive and Industrial Testing

Modern engine development requires accurate timing measurements under rapidly changing operating conditions. The IGTM-2000 was designed specifically for engineers who need reliable real-time ignition timing data during calibration, combustion development, and transient engine testing.

Unlike simple timing measurement tools, the IGTM-2000 combines intelligent signal conditioning, programmable timing pattern support, and broad ignition system compatibility into a compact platform designed for laboratory, dyno, and in-vehicle environments.

The system supports ignition timing, camshaft timing, and injector timing measurements while integrating directly into data acquisition and calibration workflows.

Key Benefits

  • High-precision timing measurement with ±0.05° accuracy

  • Real-time output for integration with data acquisition systems

  • Flexible signal compatibility across ignition system types

  • Intelligent signal conditioning reduces noise and interference

  • Supports both steady-state and transient testing scenarios

  • Compact, rugged enclosure suitable for lab and vehicle environments

Intelligent Signal Conditioning

The IGTM-2000 uses microprocessor-controlled intelligent signal conditioning to automatically adjust threshold and hysteresis levels when operating with VRS-style magnetic sensors. By adapting to changing signal amplitudes during engine operation, it minimizes interference and helps maintain accurate timing measurements across varying speeds and load conditions. For applications requiring greater control, signal conditioning parameters can also be manually configured and are retained in non-volatile memory.

Patterned Crankshaft Signal Support

The IGTM-2000 is compatible with patterned crankshaft position signals, including missing-tooth and extra-tooth configurations commonly found in modern automotive engines. Popular timing patterns are pre-programmed for quick setup, while custom patterns can be easily configured to support specialized applications. This flexibility allows the system to integrate with a wide range of production and development engines while maintaining accurate transient timing measurements.

Flexible Signal Source Compatibility

Designed to support a variety of engine architectures, the IGTM-2000 accepts ignition and timing signals from multiple sources, including inductive spark plug wire sensors, ignition coil primary connections, OEM ignition trigger logic signals, optical shaft encoders, and existing crankshaft position sensors. In many applications, the unit can be connected in parallel with production ECM sensors, reducing installation complexity and minimizing the need for additional instrumentation.

Integrated Data Acquisition Interfaces

The IGTM-2000 provides both programmable analog timing outputs and RS-232 communication for straightforward integration with engine test cells, ECU calibration systems, and third-party data acquisition platforms. An expansion port also supports optional accessories, including the Analog RPM Adapter, making it easy to incorporate real-time timing data into existing measurement and analysis workflows.

Built for Engine Development

Whether performing ignition calibration, combustion analysis, injector timing validation, or transient engine testing, the IGTM-2000 delivers the precise timing information needed to support confident engineering decisions. Its compact, water- and oil-resistant aluminum enclosure is designed for reliable operation in demanding laboratory, dyno, and in-vehicle testing environments.
