EMX 2.0 is designed for engineers who need laboratory-grade measurement performance in compact hardware that can be installed directly in vehicles, test cells, and other rugged environments. The product family uses a modular chassis architecture with internal measurement module combinations, allowing a single EMX device to support multiple input types and channel count requirements.

 

This modular design helps reduce the number of separate devices, cables, and mounting locations required for a test setup. Instead of chaining together multiple single-purpose DAQ devices, EMX can combine analog voltage measurement, thermocouple measurement, and sensor power outputs in one rugged enclosure.

 

Measurement channels support software-configurable options, including advanced DSP filtering algorithms, selectable filter response characteristics, stop-band frequencies, and independently selectable output data rates. These features help deliver accurate, repeatable measurements typically associated with larger laboratory-style instrumentation.

 

When used with ATI VISION software, EMX operates as a plug-and-play device and supports enhanced workflow features such as dynamic acquisition rates and automatic filter delay compensation. EMX can also be integrated into third-party CAN/CAN-FD acquisition systems using ATI’s open Message Based Protocol.

Analyze Large and Complex Recordings

EMX modules provide configurable measurement behavior per channel, including filter response selection, stop-band frequency selection, and independent output data rates. ATI's VISION adds integrated Filter Delay Compensation to automatically time-align EMX measurements with data from other sources such as ECU modules.

High-Quality Measurements with Advanced Filtering

EMX measurement modules include anti-aliasing hardware filters and configurable DSP filtering. Depending on the module, DSP filter options include 8th order Bessel low-pass, 16th order Bessel low-pass, 8th order Butterworth low-pass, and 16th order Elliptical low-pass filters. These selectable filter characteristics and cutoff settings help engineers capture clean, repeatable data.

Time-Aligned Data for Complex Tests

Analog and thermocouple modules use simultaneous, time-aligned sampling across all channels. Ethernet variants add 100 Mbps communication with hardware IEEE-1588 PTP time synchronization, supporting higher-performance networked measurement architectures.

Real-Time Network Monitoring

With ATI's VISION, EMX supports plug-and-play operation, dynamic acquisition rates, and automatic filter delay compensation. For non-ATI systems, EMX supports open Message Based Protocol operation on CAN and CAN-FD, enabling flexible free-running CAN message formats and rates.

Built for Harsh Environments

EMX devices use aerospace-grade IP67 connectors and sealed hard-anodized billet aluminum enclosures. The current product literature also notes a chromium-plated Lemo connector option for improved salt spray resistance.

Modular Chassis Architecture

Every EMX system begins with the chassis. The chassis determines how many measurement modules can be installed while providing the rugged environmental protection required for vehicle, laboratory, and industrial testing environments.

Both chassis types use sealed hard-anodized billet aluminum construction, IP67 rating, six power and status indicators, 5 to 32 VDC automotive-surge-tolerant power, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.

A-Chassis

Designed for compact installations and lower channel count applications, the A-Chassis supports up to two EMX I/O modules while maintaining the same rugged environmental performance as larger systems.
